Pokémon Go 2025 April Fools' Event

There's a fun little April Fools' Day event called "What's That Poké Ball?" in Pokémon Go today that runs until midnight (local time). The in-game description of the event is simply, "Poké Balls are appearing on the map!"

During the event, Poké Balls will spawn randomly throughout the map. You can pick up the Poké Balls to see if you actually get a Poké Ball (or despite the appearance, a Great Ball or Ultra Ball) or if you've been fooled by a Poké Ball-like Pokémon.

Wild encounters from a picked up Poké Ball include:

  • Foongus (Good for 500 Stardust each)
  • Amoonguss (Good for 750 Stardust each)
  • Voltorb
  • Hisuian Voltorb
  • Electrode
  • Hisuian Electrode
  • Galarian Stunfisk

The event is especially nice if you're looking to max out your Electric catch or need more Stardust.
